Bundaberg · Southern Great Barrier Reef

Where the Great Barrier
Reef gets personal.

Small-group reef days, humpback season on the Humpback Highway, golden-hour river cruises and private charters — all leaving from Bundaberg Port Marina, Queensland's closest gateway to Lady Musgrave Island.

The main event

A coral cay, a quiet lagoon, and not a crowd in sight.

Bundaberg is a four-hour drive or a forty-five-minute flight from Brisbane, and from our berth at Bundaberg Port Marina the Southern Great Barrier Reef opens up in front of you — Lady Musgrave Island's turquoise lagoon, an outer reef largely to itself, and turtles that have never learned to be shy.

We keep our numbers deliberately low and our crew deliberately local. Whether that's a full day in the water, a half day among migrating humpbacks, two hours of golden light on the Burnett River, or a vessel entirely your own — the day is built around you, not a timetable.

The reef keeps a diary. Here's the good bit.

Lady Musgrave Island from the water
Departing Bundaberg

The shortest crossing to the quietest reef.

Most reef tours start hours further north, in front of hundreds of other people. Ours starts at Bundaberg Port Marina, Burnett Heads — a straight run to Lady Musgrave Island, the largest coral cay lagoon on the Southern Great Barrier Reef, and a stretch of water that still feels found rather than visited.
